Song Story: Dumping My Delusion

I wrote this song several years ago when I realized that those responsible for something that had hurt me deeply very likely weren’t at all bothered by it, at least not any more. It had been a few years, but I was still chewing on it. I had this weird moment of clarity, standing in my bedroom looking out the window. I realized that it was senseless for me to carry it around or let it define me.

Even in the demo, the song had a grinding, noshing, releasing vibe, kinda like pulling off the top of your head, reaching in, rummaging that stuff together, then chucking it as hard and as far away you can. I didn’t get it all (probably never will), but a huge weight was lifted.

My producer, Kenny Schick, nailed the vibe, cementing a decided, new direction to my music that involves electric guitar and a healthy dose of overdrive.

I wrote the song and sang lead vocals. Kenny Schick, my producer, wrote and sang backing vocals and played or programmed all of the instruments. Kenny recorded his parts at Basement3Productions in Nashville, Tennessee, and I recorded my parts in March 2022 with Steven Glaze at ToneFreq Studio in San Jose, California.
