Short Bio (100 words)

Martha Groves Perry is an unusual and important original indie rocker who combines evocative, visceral songwriting with a voice like salty potato chips and dark chocolate to crystallize often unexpressed core emotions and insights. Her bold Alternative Rock has a provocative clarity with flavors of Americana and blues.

Martha’s unique voice as a songwriter and vocalist captivated legendary guitarist and producer Pat Thrall (Pat Travers, Meatloaf + 4 Grammy nominations), and they partnered in 2025 to produce her originals. The first – BE RIGHT BACK – released in January 2026, with Clarence Collins (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) contributing vocal arrangements.

You might be reminded of Tom Waits, Tom Petty or Natalie Merchant when listening to these Americana gems, as Perry navigates around light vs dark, love vs hate and beauty against ugliness on this rich, harmonic and very literate body of work.

Poetic … melodic … expressive voice … poetic singing … graceful song craft … beauty and eloquence

Martha found ways to enfold the contradictions she saw in daily life including the underrepresented voice of the female experience, the hopefulness in the face of hopelessness and the need to engage with feeling when overwhelming experiences in life leave you numb.

“Overall, this album is an exceptional example of Perry’s singer-songwriter skills …. Her sharp, no-nonsense numbers come complete with pensive thought-provoking lyrics that acknowledge the good, the bad, and the ugly in an intriguing, entertaining presentation of oft’times contrasting cuts and familiar universal themes.”
