Song Story: Something Good

I had coffee with someone who had been my friend but had profoundly betrayed me to try to normalize things so I didn’t feel like imploding whenever I was around this person. It worked. When I came home, I stared at the ceiling above my bed and said aloud, “something’s changed …. and it’s something good.” The feeling of loosening and lifting of a burden was both exhilarating and lasting and was the seed of this song.

In addition to songwriting, lead vocals, and writing the harmony vocals, I played acoustic guitar and performed backing vocals on this song. Kenny Schick, my producer, also sang backing vocals and played or programmed all of the other instruments. Kenny recorded his parts at Basement3Productions in Boulder Creek, California, where I also recorded my vocals and acoustic guitar parts in June 2016.
