This song was written entirely as a gift to a dear friend who moved away. I was pretty gutted that she was leaving, and I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to write her an appreciation letter. He kinda looked at me all weird, and said, “why don’t you write her a song?” Genius. And duh.
The first verse and chorus came to me, as usual, in a dream – complete with lyrics, which is unusual. This woman has wiped me up when I’ve been a wreck more times than I can count, and she’s seen me at my best … and I’ve been the same for her. She truly is a soul sister, and I love her very much. The song is upbeat, fun, and loving, just like she is. I hope you like it.
In addition to songwriting, lead vocals, and writing the harmony vocals, I played acoustic guitar and performed backing vocals on this song. Kenny Schick, my producer, also sang backing vocals and played or programmed all of the other instruments. Kenny recorded his parts at Basement3Productions in Nashville, TN, and I recorded my acoustic guitar and vocal parts in April 2019 with Steven Glaze at ToneFreq Studio in San Jose, California.
